The Fredericksburg Host Lions Club

Helps those who need assistance in purchasing eye glasses.  A person needs to visit the Social Services office in the county in which he/she lives and be certified to be in financial need.  The person receives a letter authorizing him/her to go to a provider who will do an exam and provide glasses at no cost to that person.

Child Care Resources

We at Child Care Aware of Virginia are a child care resource and referral agency. Our mission is to make safe, quality child care accessible to every child and family in Virginia- which we carry out through our parent and provider services. We work with all parents in Virginia to understand what quality child care looks like and help them locate care in their area that may meet their needs. Our services are free of charge, however we do not have funds to help parents cover the cost of child care. Families facing homelessness would typically be referred to VDSS to apply for child care assistance and we would also help them locate care that offers transportation services as well as financial assistance options (scholarships, negotiable rates, or a sliding scale fee).  Here’s the link:
