FailSafe-Era Educational Enhancement Programs
FailSafe-ERA offers an Educational Enhancement Programs to provide participants the opportunity to learn various skills to increase individual and personal growth and to identify career enhancing opportunities, which will ultimately lead to successful, productive citizens in our communities and lessen the rate of recidivism.
FailSafe-ERA Annual Scholarship Program
The Failsafe-ERA Scholarship Program is designed to address the financial needs of individuals affected by incarceration. Our scholarship is a benefit that will impact our communities as individuals are provided educational enhancement and training opportunities to become better stewards of their resources and more marketable citizens of our community which will lend itself to better employment opportunities.
Once chosen from the selection process, the winner(s) will receive a scholarship made out to their educational institution to assist with the costs of attending the college, university, or trade school of their choice. In addition to the scholarship, recipients are immediately enrolled in our database for the following programs/activities: additional practical life skills and leadership development and public speaking training; participation in community service events to give back to the community; referral program for job opportunities as they become available, to prepare them to become successful, productive citizens in our communities.
The scholarship is only open to individuals affected by incarceration that is currently enrolled in a college, university, or trade school.
It is expected that applicants will demonstrate remorse for their action and a willingness to participate in our educational enhancement program. Applicants must complete our application and participate in an in-person or phone interview with the Failsafe Education Committee to finalize the application process. They will be contacted directly to schedule the interview after the deadline date.
Applicants must write an essay about how they intend to use their field of study for the good of the community. Give us some insight into your personal background and why you chose your field in particular, and any other information you feel is relevant. Your essay will be judged based on originality and creativity. Weight will be given to financial need, situational hardship, community service, and leadership potential.
Two $500 scholarships will also be awarded to individuals affected by incarceration, i.e., returning citizen and/or family member.
These scholarships are granted annually and could increase each year, based on the amount of money available in the FailSafe-ERA General Fund.

Essay length should be 500 words minimum.Upon submission, the essay becomes the property of FailSafe-ERA
A brief biography and recent photo.The photo will be used for publicity purposes on the FailSafe-ERA website.
Proof of enrollment as a student.
All submissions will be considered until midnight, July 1st.
Accepting the Scholarship Award
Once a candidate is notified of winning, the candidate has three days to respond and accept the scholarship award. If the selected candidate does not respond within the allotted time, another winner will be chosen. Once the winner(s) are selected, the scholarship(s) will be awarded at our annual scholarship program on the 1st Saturday in April, at no cost to the recipient plus one.
