Executive Director Juanita Shanks honored as with a NAACP Advocacy Award

From Juanita Shanks,
I am truly humbled, honored, and overwhelmed with gratitude to be among the recipients of the NAACP Advocacy Award.
I recognize that I stand on the shoulders of giants; those who came before me, who courageously fought for justice, equality, dignity, and the rights of others. I am equally blessed to stand alongside so many who continue that fight today.
To President Moe Petway and the Spotsylvania County NAACP, and Delegate Nicole Cole of the 66th District, thank you for this incredible honor and recognition. I am deeply appreciative and do not take it lightly.
For me, advocacy has never been about recognition. It is about being a voice for the voiceless, standing in the gap for those who are often overlooked, and believing that every person deserves dignity, opportunity, and a chance to be heard and a second chance.
This award is not just a recognition of what has been done, but a reminder of the work that remains. There are still lives to touch, barriers to break, families to restore, and generations to empower.
I accept this honor with a grateful heart, renewed purpose, and an unwavering commitment to continue serving.

The work continues, and so does my commitment to making a difference one life, one family, and one community at a time.
