At FailSafe-ERA, we believe every young person deserves the tools, guidance, and encouragement to reach their full potential. That belief was at the heart of our latest Youth Empowerment Initiative (YEI) workshop, part of the Sounding the Alarm component of the FailSafe-ERA Caring Connections Youth & Family Program.
Held at Zion Church of Fredericksburg, which graciously provided the space for the workshop, participants came together for an engaging, hands-on session focused on Time Management and Goal Setting. The workshop was filled with meaningful conversations, interactive activities, and practical lessons designed to help youth succeed in school, at home, and in everyday life.
Throughout the session, participants explored the difference between urgent and important tasks and why understanding that distinction is essential for managing their time effectively. They learned how to plan and prioritize their week with intention, strategies for staying focused and avoiding overwhelm, and why time management is a valuable life skill—not just a school skill.
The workshop also encouraged participants to think beyond the present by exploring the difference between wishes, dreams, and goals. Through hands-on activities and real-life examples, they learned how to transform their aspirations into action by developing SMART goals—Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound.
More than just a workshop, this session was a conversation, a challenge, and a celebration of potential. Our young leaders showed up ready to learn, actively participated, asked thoughtful questions, and left equipped with practical tools to help them achieve their goals.
We extend our sincere gratitude to Program Manager Gary Holland, who facilitated the workshop, with support from Dr. Hodges, Mrs. Glover, Mrs. Holland, and Zay Landry. We also thank Zion Church of Fredericksburg for generously providing a welcoming space that helped make this workshop possible.
We're just getting started! July's Youth Empowerment Initiative (YEI)Â workshops will focus on Civic Engagement and Community Service, helping participants discover how they can become active leaders and make a positive impact in their communities.
Together, through the Sounding the Alarm component of the FailSafe-ERA Caring Connections Youth & Family Program, we are equipping youth with the knowledge, confidence, and leadership skills they need to build brighter futures.
