Financial Management & Budgeting YEI Workshop a Sucess!

The YEI workshop focused on Financial Management & Budgeting was a hit! Following a discussion of the importance of viewing money in 4 “buckets” (Give, Save, live & Enjoy), the attendees we divided into 5 groups and participated in a life skills game created by Gary Holland and facilitated by Gary & Isaiah Landry.

The youth had a great time with his interactive game by choosing a career, income, type of home and car. Then they were give guidance on setting budget categories based on income and lifestyle choices. The real fun came when they were surprised with a “Life Happens!” announcement forcing them to deal with unexpected financial situations and adjust their budgets.

At the end of the day, the youth learned the importance of saving, living beneath your income, preparing for unexpected situations and more. It was a great workshop and all attendees acknowledged that they learned a lot during this interactive workshop.
